Preschool Classes

GymStars’ preschool program is designed to give your child the best learning experience in a fun and exciting class. Children will learn skills on vault, bars, beam, floor, and trampoline.The preschool classes are a wonderful way to prepare children for entering school because students learn to listen to and follow directions, share, and how to wait their turn and socialize with their peers.

Tumble Bear Gymnastics – Parent / Tot – Age 2 ‐ 3

This class is for children age 2 ‐ 3 and a parent to assist. The class is a half-hour of introductory level gymnastics basics, core body awareness, and development. The parent helps their child learn basic skills; listening to the coaches, following directions, staying in line, and taking turns. No siblings please!

Key Skills

Floor: Front roll, body positions, intro to backward rolls, cartwheels, and handstands.
Vault: Galloping, skipping, running, series of jumps.
Beam: Walks forward, backwards, and sideways.
Bars: Front support, roll out, hang, and swing.
Trampoline: Jump, tuck, straddle, and seat drop.

Tumble Bear II Gymnastics – Parent / Tot – Age 4 ‐ 5

This is a coed introduction to gymnastics class. Tumble Bear II will help children gain confidence, enforce structure and listening skills, improve agility, flexibility, coordination, and teach sportsmanship and cooperation.

Key skills

Floor: Front and back rolls, cartwheels, and handstands.
Vault: Skipping, hurdle to a spring board, knees on, squat on, straddle on.
Beam: Walk - Forwards, backwards, and sideways, jump, scale, kicks, and rolls.
Bars: Pullover, cast, back hip circle, roll out.
Trampoline: Jump, tuck, pike, straddle, 1/2 turn, seat drop, and doggie drop.
Double Mini: Landing Skills.

Women's Gymnastics

Beginner Girls Gymnastics- Level 1

This class is an entry-level gymnastics class for girls 6 and over. Objectives for this class are to increase agility, flexibility, and strength. Students will learn the USA gymnastics level 1 routines and be able to compete in AAU gymnastics competitions and Championships.

Key Skills

Floor: Front & Back rolls, cartwheels, bridge, handstands, intro to limbers, and back kick overs and round offs.
Vault: Handstand fall, board skills-straight, neck, pike, straddle, ½ turn on stacked mats.
Beam: Mount, v‐sit, jump, pivot, T-stand, kicks, and cartwheel dismount.
Bars: Pullover, cast, back hip circle & under swing dismount.

Novice Girls Gymnastics - Level 2

This class is for girls age 6 and over. Must have coach’s approval to be in this class. Objectives for this class are to increase agility, flexibility, and strength. Students will learn the USA gymnastics Level 2 routines and be able to compete in AAU gymnastics competitions and championships.

Requirements

Floor: Backbend kick over, roundoff, full handstand, backroll to pike stand, leap.
Vault: Solid handstand
Beam: T stand to lever, pivot in releve, leg swings above hip height, cartwheel dismount
Bars: Pullover, backhip circle, leg cut, squat on dismount.

Novice Trampoline, Tumbling, and Double-Mini - Ages 6 and Older

Students must have teacher approval to enter this class. Must be able to do a backbend kick over and be working on perfecting flips on trampoline and double-mini. Students will learn routines using the AAU and USTA rules and be able to compete in sanction competitions and AAU Junior Olympics Games.

Key Skills

Trampoline: Front and backflip (tuck position), half and full turn.
Tumbling: Front and back walkover, round offs, back and front handspring.
Double Mini: Dismounted front and back flip (tuck position), spotter position back flip (tuck position).

Girls Intermediate Gymnastics – Level 3

This class is an intermediate level gymnastics class for girls 6 and over. Must have coach’s approval for entry. Objectives for this class are to increase agility, flexibility, and strength. Students will learn the USA gymnastics Level 3 routines and be able to compete in AAU gymnastics competitions and championships.

Requirements

Floor: Backbend kickover, roundoff, full handstand, backroll to pike stand, leap.
Vault: Solid handstand
Beam: T stand to lever, pivot in releve, leg swings above hip height, cartwheel dismount
Bars: Pullover, backhip circle, leg cut, squat on dismount.

Girls Intermediate Gymnastics – Excel

This class is an intermediate level gymnastics class for girls 6 and over. Must have coach’s approval for entry. Objectives for this class are to increase agility, flexibility, and strength. Students will learn the USA gymnastics Excel routines and be able to compete in AAU gymnastics competitions and championships.

Requirements

All level 3 Requirements:
Floor: Front tuck, back tuck, jumps.
Vault: Front handspring
Beam: Cartwheel, back walkover or back handspring, leap (120°), flip dismount.
Bars: Kip, squat on, fly away, dismount, tap swings

Power Tumbling & Trampoline

GymStars provides St. Louis, MO and Southern, IL with the best in developmental, recreational, and competitive Trampoline & Tumbling Team programs for boys and girls.

The athletes at GymStars have made major accomplishments which include: AAU National Team, USTA National Champion, AAU Junior Olympic National Champion, All American Junior Olympic Title as well as many district and state champions!

Tumbling: Front and back rolls, cartwheels, round offs, limbers, back kick overs.
Double Mini: Tuck, Pike, Straddle, 1/2 and full turns.

Novice Trampoline, Tumbling, and Double-Mini - Ages 6 and older

Students must have a round off back handspring to enroll in this class. Students will learn routines using the AAU and USTA rules and be able to compete in sanction competitions and AAU Junior Olympics Games.

Key skills

Trampoline: Front and back handspring series, back and front somis (all positions), reversals, fulls, and doubles.
Tumbling: Front and back somis (all positions), whips, brani, rudi, randoff, 3/4 somis, ball outs, cody, fulls, and doubles.
Double Mini: Front and back somis (all positions), brandi, rudi, randoff, fulls.
